About The Artist:
SYDNIE IRBY
My work expresses the coming together of 2 passions that
have been central to me all my life. As a young girl, my grandfather and I went
to the zoo regularly where I would sketch the animals who quickly found a place
in my heart. I’ve brought numerous pets into my home over the past 60 years and
have been fortunate to be able to contribute and be a part of many animal
organizations and causes.
I majored in Fine Art at The University of Georgia and my background includes
commercial illustration, needlepoint design, decorative design and painting,
gallery participation and art instruction. Through it all I have always wanted
to find a way to incorporate my love of animals into the art I create. Sydnie’s
Pet Artistry is the culmination of that intention. I am committed to creating
portraits for my clients that capture the essence and remarkable likeness of
each cherished pet. When photos fade and become frayed and torn, my portraits
and the accompanying memories shine on.
In addition to more traditional pet portraits, I offer a broad range of styles
and mediums. I work in graphite, watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastel and colored
pencil. I love to explore new directions in interpreting the emotional
connection with our pets. These may include the loving, the unexpected, the
whimsical, silly or sentimental moments we experience when we let pets into our
lives. I often bring special symbols, settings or sometimes even the pet owner’s
likeness into a pet portrait to make the painting even more unique and
meaningful.
